A Metro Vancouver baked goods company is recalling some of its products due to the presence of plastic pieces in them.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) first announced on January 23 that Langley-based Mark-Crest Foods Ltd. is recalling specific butter tart products due to the presence of extraneous materials.

The affected product was its 3” Butter Tart (sold in 4.6 kilogram packages) with UPC 056623112323 and codes 121019-1-000 to 121019-19-000.

The product was distributed in B.C., Alberta, and Manitoba.

Then on January 28, the CFIA stated that the recall expanded to include packages with UPC 056623112323 and codes 102819-1-000 to 102819-20-000.

This product was distributed in B.C., Alberta, and Ontario.

Anyone who has these products should check the above codes to verify if they are part of the recall and if they are, dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase.
