IDSwest is, first and foremost, a celebration of design in all its forms. Here are some highlights worth checking out at the Vancouver Convention Centre from Thursday to Sunday (September 19 to 22):

Adad Hannah for Montauk Makers of oversized couches and solid stone coffee tables, Montauk Sofa never does anything by halves. This year its booth will feature a monumental, 12-foot-by-26-foot photograph by Vancouver-based photographer Adad Hannah. Hannah’s racy After a Gentle Storm is loosely based on Japanese shunga, or erotic art, and inspired by the collection in the Asian Art Wing of Texas’s San Antonio Museum of Art.

Studio North Celebrate this country’s design up-and-comers with an awe-inspiring exhibition of forward-thinking, envelope-pushing Canadian talent, such as refurbished and updated antiques by Vancouver designers Nour Enayeh and Deborah Grech of La Brocante Furniture and must-have, Danish-inspired woodwork by Toronto-based designer Jess Tasker’s Trunk Studio.

Men’s Fashion Week Boys will be boys at the Men’s Fashion Week runway show, when two designers show their latest collections as part of IDSwest’s Party on Opening Night.
