One of the big names in designer-outlet world has announced its first list of tenants in the Lower Mainland. And it's planning to hold a two-day career fair to try to fill hundreds of jobs.

McArthurGlen has reached agreements with Armani, Calvin Klein, Coach, Estée Lauder, GEOX, Levi's, Tommy Hilfiger, J. Crew, Hugo Boss, and 37 other brands for its Vancouver Airport location, which will open in the early summer.

The career fair will be held at the Fairmont Vancouver Waterfront Hotel (900 Canada Place Way, Vancouver) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday (May 24) and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday (May 25).

McArthur Glen Vancouver Airport promises year-round savings of up to 70 percent and will feature the first Lower Mainland location for Lolë, a women's activewear brand. It will also feature the region's first Ports 1961 store. The mall will be located at 7899 Templeton Station Road near the exit from the Arthur Laing Bridge.

The first phase will feature 240,000 square feet of retail and food outlets. Eventually, it will be built out to 400,000 square feet and include 150 stores, along with 2,500 parking spaces.

According to a company news release, McArthur Glen Vancouver Airport anticipates it will be 70 percent leased on opening date, which puts it on pace with its 20 other designer outlets in Europe.

Most of them are 10 minutes to an hour from city centres, though McArthurGlen Swindon is 90 minutes from London and McArthurGlen Troyes is two hours from Paris.

The Vancouver airport location will be 30 minutes from downtown Vancouver via the Canada Line and just 10 minutes from Richmond's city centre.

That's what we need. More shopping malls. God forbid we teach people how to save money by not shopping.
