Dedicated to the local literary scene and its connections to the wider world of books, the independent-minded Real Vancouver Writers’ Series is bringing its own event to this hectic season of fests and readings. On Monday (October 7), the series hooks up with Ontario–based publishing house Biblioasis for an evening featuring five writers: Poetry Is Dead magazine editor Jordan Abel, essayist and poet Rahat Kurd, Malarky author Anakana Schofield, fiction writer Lucie Wilk, and performance poet Alexandra Oliver. It all gets under way at 7 p.m. at One Thousand Rivers (54 East 4th Avenue). Admission is free.
