Japanese lifestyle brand ASICS Tiger has released its first-ever apparel line with Vancouver’s very own Reigning Champ.

The two athletic companies have joined forces to produce a 15-piece collection that speaks to Reigning Champ’s core collection of men’s cotton essentials. Included in the line are a bomber, full-zip hoodie, crewneck, raglan tee, shorts, and revamped versions of ASICS’s iconic GEL-Lyte III sneakers, each available in black, heather grey, and navy.

The collaboration plays with Reigning Champ’s minimalist offerings by incorporating details like slight drop-tail hems and custom draw-cords that tie in with the GEL-Lyte III’s recognizable speckled sole. Each piece is designed and made entirely in Vancouver.

“I think what ASICS is doing really complements what Reigning Champ is doing,” says Raekha Merner, retail operations manager at Reigning Champ, in an interview at the brand’s retail store in Kitsilano. “Our focus is on athletic lifestyle and ASICS is obviously about that as well.”

The ASICS Tiger x Reigning Champ collection starts at $80 and is now available online and at Reigning Champ (2119 West 4th Avenue), Gravity Pope (2203 West 4th Avenue), Livestock (239 Abbott Street), and Haven (52 East Cordova Street).

Sneakerheads should act fast—the collab sold 800 pairs of shoes online alone within its first hour of dropping. Peep the line in the gallery above.
