Travel + Leisure’s 2016 World Best Awards has named The Wedgewood Hotel & Spa as the #1 Top City Hotel in Canada.

This isn’t the first time the family-owned luxury boutique hotel in Downtown Vancouver has snagged a spot on the list—it placed fifth in last year’s awards.

“Although we have consistently been ranked as one of the top hotels in Canada, this is the first time we have been voted as number one!” said Elpie Marinakis-Jackson, Wedgewood Hotel’s co-owner and managing director, in a press statement. “It is a true honour and a privilege and we are absolutely thrilled to be ranked among the best in the world by Travel + Leisure.”

The prestigious awards are selected by the travel publication’s readers, with hotel rankings based on ratings in five categories: rooms/facilities, location, service, value, and food.

A handful of other Vancouver hotels made the list, including Rosewood Hotel Georgia ranking second place, Shangri-La Hotel Vancouver coming in at fifth, Fairmont Pacific Rim placing ninth, and Loden Hotel taking the tenth spot.
