WestJet flight from Vancouver to Ottawa cleared for flight after explosives threat

      A plane flight from Vancouver to Ottawa was diverted from its route due to a bomb threat.

      WestJet Flight 142 departed from Vancouver at 4:25 p.m. on August 3.

      En route to Ottawa, the plane was diverted around 10:30 p.m. (ET) to Thunder Bay, Ontario, after the RCMP were informed there was a "possible explosive" on board, according to the Thunder Bay Police Service.

      The plane was parked in a secure area of the Thunder Bay airport and 125 passengers and crew were escorted off the aircraft.

      At 12:45 p.m. (ET) today (August 4), TBPS stated that after the aircraft was searched by the Ontario Provincial Police and TBPS, it cleared for flight to continue on to Ottawa.

      The RCMP is continuing an investigation into the threat.
