Your horoscope from January 15 to 21, 2015

1 of 1 2 of 1

As of Thursday, we’ll be over the midweek Mars/Saturn pressure point. Outside of Friday morning’s dissipation or unforeseen, the going should prove smooth. Saturday and Sunday are great for getting your pleasure fill however suits you best. It’s also likely to be a lucrative weekend, thanks to Venus doing all of us some good.

Whether it’s a runoff or a buying spree, money markets could see brisk action as Venus in Aquarius opposes Jupiter in Leo on Monday morning. Venus/Jupiter sends the optimist into action. The transit can also be one of extravagance, indulgence, overestimating, or “the grass is greener elsewhere.” Later in the day, Mars conjuncts Neptune. This is a wonderfully creative, hopeful, and romantic transit. It can deliver hidden opportunity or a saving grace. On the other hand, the transit is also one of blurred lines, overexposure, vulnerability, and seeing what you want to see.

Tuesday delivers the last of four new moons in a row to occur at zero degrees. The past four months have set up a recalibration cycle. Extending that program for three more weeks, Mercury in Aquarius begins retrograde on Wednesday morning. For the next few weeks, we’ll continue to break new ground while we also retrace and review. Be prepared for anything goes. Remember to maintain an objective viewpoint, stay open to exploring, think outside the box, and don’t discount a thing until you’ve given it the test of time.

Aries
March 20 - April 20

You can ease up on the throttle now. For the most part, the stars keep life on a fluid track through the weekend. Even so, Monday’s Mars/Neptune can make you feel swamped or depleted. Get creative or simply allow the day to run itself. Tuesday’s new moon delivers a breath of fresh air. Mercury retrograde, starting Wednesday, pushes your refresh button.

Taurus
April 20 - May 21

One way or another, the start of next week will put you on the move. Mars/Neptune could open a lucrative window or door, or reveal something you hadn’t fully clued in to yet. Don’t hesitate to give up to get. Once an opening is created, it will immediately fill up again. What’s ended or over may not quite be finished once Mercury turns retrograde.

Gemini
May 21 - June 21

Attend a workshop, enjoy sports, head out of town, or indulge as you like—a great weekend lies ahead. On the social, romantic, creative, pleasure-seeking, or moneymaking front, Venus in Aquarius and Tuesday’s new moon set you up for a cash-in. Still, as of Wednesday, when Mercury begins a retrograde cycle, more observation, discussion, negotiation, selling, or sorting out can be necessary.

Cancer
June 21 - July 22

Your weekend will be as productive as you choose to make it. Blow it off if you want to, but you’d be wise to get the necessary handled and out of the way before Mercury retrograde begins on Wednesday. It’ll come easily to you on Monday, thanks to Mars/Neptune and Venus/Jupiter. You can charm and sway; know you can be easily sold too.

Leo
July 22 - August 23

Watch for something or someone exciting to get you going at the start of the new week. A great connection or reconnection can be made. Venus/Jupiter could dish up gifts or gifted moments. They’re also good for enhancements of all kinds. You may spend or indulge, but you’ll easily justify it. Watch for Mercury retrograde to shake it up and/or speed it up.

You have it going on through the start of next week. You should find you can do more, handle more, and get further than you usually do. Mercury retrograde can dish up unexpected complications or expense.

Libra

You’ll get around and cover good ground this weekend. Enjoy the social or romantic, go off on your own, make some money, or create a masterpiece. Scorpio
October 23 - November 22

It’s an excellent time to be reinventing yourself or to take the ball and run with it. Introduce yourself, explore new options, or try a new lifestyle on for size. Creative opportunity is at a peak through the start of next week. On Monday, you’re at your snake-charmer best. It’s only a short window, though, as Mercury begins retrograde on Wednesday.

Sagittarius
November 22 - December 21

Friday/Saturday, the moon in Sagittarius keeps you coasting at just the right altitude. Monday can be a happy-making or self-indulgence day. Venus/Jupiter could bring news or light a fresh spark. Mars/Neptune will keep you completely submerged right where you are. Mercury retrograde, starting Wednesday, can ignite a wonderful creative spurt. The cycle helps you to stand apart from the crowd.

Capricorn
December 21 - January 20

On Sunday, you’re good to go. On Monday, most things you take on are likely to deliver beyond expectations. Venus/Jupiter provides a confidence boost and loans you the Midas touch. Tuesday’s new moon brings you a fresh perspective. Mercury retrograde, starting Wednesday, can dish up a short-term project or diversion.

Aquarius
January 20 - February 18

Venus in Aquarius turns you into a people magnet. It’ll keep you looking, sounding, and performing your best through next week’s start. Aim to be an attention-getter—you’ll easily impress them. Monday is your day to shine and/or make money. Tuesday’s new moon also lights a good spark. Wednesday could call for a snap decision.

Pisces
February 18 - March 20

The next week can send you into a wonderful creative spurt. You could enjoy truly inspired moments. Go by feel first. Intuition and emotional responsiveness are also at peak. On Monday, monitor your first impressions—they’ll speak truth. The start of the week could show good promise. Wednesday’s Mercury retrograde could stir up something unexpected that requires immediate attention.

Saw this about astrology columns, laughed out loud

Jan 18, 2015 at 2:48am

For example, it is a running in-joke in publishing that the astrology columns in local newspapers are invariably compiled and written by the in-house work experience kid, under a some such alliterative byline as Deidre Devine or Simone Starr. The fact that readers don’t complain about the inaccuracy of the daft predictions despite them being made up on the spot by an unpaid 18-year-old between doing coffee rounds says a lot.

Is it true, Georgia Straight?
