My Favourite Thing is a video feature where the Georgia Straight gets interesting folks from around town to list off, among other things, their favourite performers, live gigs, and more. And, of course, their favourite thing.

In this special edition of My Favourite Thingthe Straight speaks with award-winning spoken word performer and writer Ivan Coyote, ahead of their appearance at this year's Vancouver Writers Fest.

Coyote, the creator of four short films, three albums that combine spoken word and music, and the author of 11 books, has spent nearly 20 years in the Canadian literary scene. In Coyote's latest book, a memoir titled Tomboy Surivival Guide, the author tells readers what it was like growing up in the Yukon.

We caught up with Coyote at Platform 7's secret garden patio, where we found out about a few of their favourite books, performers, and more.

Watch the video below to find out about some of Coyote's faves, and check them out at one of the four Writers Fest events listed beneath the video.
