Vancouver International Airport has been voted as the best airport in North America at the Skytrax World Airport Awards.

This is a historic win for YVR, as it is the first and only airport in the world to receive this award for eight consecutive years.

Our city’s beloved airport also moved up a rank in the World’s Top 100 Airports, placing 13th in comparison to last year’s 14th place.

The Skytrax awards are recognized as the global benchmark of airport excellence, and engage 13.8 million passengers to vote for the best airports worldwide.

The passenger surveys are conducted in 550 airports around the world, and measures 39 elements in the airport travel experience that range from check-in to security, comfort to efficiency, transportation availability to friendliness, and more.

It's a historic win for YVR.

YVR was also voted in the top three for best airport staff service, and Fairmont Vancouver Airport Hotel was voted as best airport hotel in North America.

“This impressive accomplishment is shared with the 23,000 people who work and volunteer at YVR as well as our amazing community, passengers and partners,” said Craig Richmond, president and CEO of Vancouver Airport Authority, in a press statement. “This is particularly meaningful this year as we saw 22.3 million passengers come through our terminal—two million additional passengers from the year before.”

In celebration of YVR’s eighth year of winning, it will be giving away eight free flights to any North American destination over the next eight days. For more information, click here.
