Ready for a scare? Fright Nights returns to Playland with "goriest" haunted house yet and additional rides

Playland’s annual Fright Nights is back on select nights from October 6 to 31, this time with a brand-new haunted house and five rides added to its roster.

The Halloween-themed event, which will once again see a gaggle of murderous ghouls, creepy clowns, and chainsaw-wielding freaks roaming the site, will feature a total of eight haunted houses, including the newly introduced Bloodshed, which the amusement park describes as a “dilapidated” cabin that’s “home to a family of ruthless mutant murders”. It promises to be Fright Nights’ goriest attraction yet.

Among the returning favourites are the Haunted Mansion, a residence occupied by the mad Dr. Luther van Horn and his spooky afterlife descendants; Hollywood Horrors, where cannibals, bloody chainsaws, and torturous weapons fill the halls; and the Keepers Doll Factory, an abandoned toy warehouse where cloaked figures remain on the hunt for human sacrifices.

Fright Nights attendees can expect to see mutants and ghouls like this at the newly introduced Bloodshed haunted house.

Other attractions include the Car-N-Evil, a haunted clown house that should prove extremely popular (or unpopular) following the success of this year’s It reboot, and performances by Singe the Clown and the Monsters of Schlock, a comedian duo that specializes in record-breaking, death-defying stunts.

Guests can also experience 20 of Playland’s rides, including the the Beast, Hell’s Gate, and Atmosfear. Drop Zone and Revelation can be ridden for an additional charge.

Admission starts at $22 online and at participating 7-Eleven stores. It includes access to haunted houses, select rides, and shows. Due to high demand, Fright Nights has implemented a new rule this year in which tickets must be purchased for a specific date ahead of time. Admission starts at $25 at the door.

Rapid passes ($59 online; $65 at the door) are also available, which allow guests to bypass the lines at haunted houses and select rides. The event is not recommended for kids 12 and under.

Playland’s Fright Nights takes place from October 6 to 8; 13 to 15; 18 to 22; and 24 to 31, from 7 p.m. until late. For more information about Fright Nights, or to purchase tickets, click here.
