It’s that time of the year again—Vancouverites can rejoice and finally dust off their skis and snowboards and put it to good use.

Cypress Mountain announced this afternoon that it will officially open for the 2017/2018 skiing and snowboarding season this Friday (November 10) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This is the mountain’s third earliest opening in its 33-year history; it received 30 centimetres of fresh snow on Thursday (November 1), and its snow-making equipment has been pushing out the goods under perfect temperatures.

“Our amazing snow-making crew has been pumping out snow 24 hours days since Friday,” reads a blog post on its website. ”With our newly expanded Snowmaking System, we’ve made the equivalent of nearly 28 football fields with a foot of snow!”

Cypress Mountain’s downhill area, which includes the High Speed Eagle Express Quad Chair and Easy Rider Quad Chair, will be open on Friday. The Skate Park (terrain park) will also be available for use on opening day, complete with six different features.

The Cypress Creek Grill and Gold Medal Café will be in operation for those who want to grab a hot drink or a bite, and the Crazy Raven Bar & Grill will open over the weekend.

According to the blog post, the Nordic Area (cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and snow-tubing will open at a later date.

For those who are able to make it up to the hills this Friday, its opening day tickets will be 40 percent off.
