Update (March 22): Tickets to the Poly-Era Spring Masquerade & Strut Off are now by donation.

Who says that all fashion shows must look to the future? The Hastings Crossing Business Improvement Association is organizing a fashion event and runway show that celebrates the past.

The Poly-Era Spring Masquerade & Strut Off is a vintage fashion show and ball happening at the Rickshaw Theatre (254 East Hastings Street) on Saturday (March 24) at 7:30 p.m. The event will feature outfits presented by some of Vancouver’s best vintage shops—including deLuxe Junk (310 Cordova Street), Starfish and Rose (419 Abbott Street), The Fair (415 Abbott Street), F as in Frank (2425 Main Street), and Temple of the Modern Girl (2695 Main Street)—each representing a different era.

Attendees are encouraged to dress in their favourite vintage pieces, and the best ensembles in the audience will win passes to Vancouver Eco Fashion Week (April 10 to 12). After the fashion show, the party will feature music by local hip-hop artist Moka Only and alt-rock band Prisoners.

All proceeds raised from the event will go to two Downtown Eastside organizations: the Hastings Crossing BIA and Our Social Fabric, a textiles recycling program.

Tickets to the Poly-Era Spring Masquerade & Strut Off are $20 (plus service charge) online, and in-person at Red Cat Records (4332 Main Street), Zulu Records (1972 West 4th Avenue), and Neptune Records (3561 Main Street).
