Playing with art helps us find our inspiration, and encourages innovative, unique thinking and expressive approaches. Join professional artist and spiritual director Nan Goodship and Minister Murray Groom Thursday, April 5th – Sunday, April 8th, 2018 in Soul Work: The Spirit of Creativity; an exploration of our creativity grounded in ecumenical contemplative spiritual practice and art making. Enjoy the weekend in company with others in the comfort and quiet of the woodlands by the lakeside at Bethlehem Centre at 2371 Arbot Rd. on Mt. Benson in Nanaimo, British Columbia.

Explore what the individualized creative process looks like. As we seek to open our sense of how to live creatively, we will discern what inhibits us and what inspires us. Through silence and conversation, being and action, we will delve into our individual motivations toward creativity, laying the foundation for more openness toward the creative spirit in each of our lives.

We will be using art as a basic metaphor and medium to experience creativity, encouraging an understanding of creativity that is active in every area of our lives.

Nan Goodship is a professional artist, spiritual director, and retreat leader. She considers herself an ecological artist, a lover of community life and someone who brings a contemplative and playful interest to creative life.

Murray Groom is an ordained minister in the United Church of Canada. He is a graduate, former staff member, and one-time interim Director of the Pacific Jubilee Program in Spiritual Direction. He is a practiced spiritual director and regularly co-conducts extended silent retreats at Naramata Centre in the Okanagan Valley.
