Since receiving a personal invitation and membership from International Dance Council president Dr Alkis Raftis in 2011, XBa School of Dance director Nela H has been honouring International Dance Day on April 29th of every year.

With long-time friends and fellow artists Isidora and Dragan Markovic of SKUD Zavicaj Serbian Folk Group, and Keri Ring-Ferguson of Keri’s School of Highland Dance, XBa has celebrated International Dance Day by creating original shows that offer a fusion of dance styles, cross-cultural art and dance, the film arts, the visual arts, the musical arts, and the art of photography.

Surrey’s only professional contemporary dance company, DISKORDANSE, returns with another stunning, ground-breaking performance.

Every season new artists are invited to join and celebrate the ART OF DANCE; for 2018, XBa is welcoming the Tamanawis Secondary School Dance Group, and is thrilled to see returning photography artist Barbara Cooper lend her spectacular vision once again to the creation of the show. West Coast Woodlands artist James McCue’s original works return once again to grace our stage.

At showtime you will enter the world of a contemporary art gallery and experience its changing exhibits. Set to Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, Barbara Cooper’s stunning photography acts as the changing movements, the change of time and space, and each new set will reveal new art that simply explodes out of its expected confines.

Be surprised at every turn and moment as the standard staging lines blur and you wonder…are we looking at the exhibits? Or are they looking at us?
