Unceremoniously dumped by his wife, Dutch crime novelist Victor decides to attend a book launch in Edinburgh and to bring along his grown (but equally dumped) son, Zack. If the trip is meant to repair his bruised ego and regain his boy's respect, well, it's not exactly smooth sailing. But the prospect of seeing his favourite band from the 1980s playing live (Mike Scott's The Waterboys) at least holds out the promise of a happy ending...
