Players & Singers: Bacchanalia
Hycroft Manor, 1489 McRae, Vancouver Two show times: 3pm and 8pm
On the heels of their tremendously successful inaugural production, Venus and Adonis, Players & Singers returns to the Hycroft Manor ballroom for an evening celebrating the great (and not so great) works of Henry Purcell. With full baroque orchestra, soloists and chorus, we will entertain you with soaring arias, timeless ensembles, intricate dances and quite a few drinking songs. At the center of the programme will be Purcell’s delightful masque Timon of Athens, the musical representation of a war between two powerful Greek Gods: Cupid - the God of Love - and Bacchus - the God of Wine.
