The 23rd annual Scandinavian Midsummer Festival will be happening again at the Scandinavian Centre in Burnaby - come join a few thousand people to celebrate Midsummer with Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden.

There will be cultural displays for each of the Nordic countries, along with artisans, the best of Scandinavian food (Salmon BBQ, Danish Smørrebrød sandwiches and Swedish baked goods, a few to mention), a Viking Village and tours by vikings there, Vintage Volvos, plenty of activities for the kids and all day entertainment on stage. Key highlights are the opening ceremonies around noon followed by the raising of a Midsummer pole, evening bonfire with live music and on Sunday 2:30pm is the Finnish Wife Carrying contest. Gates open at 10am on Saturday, admission is $10, children under 16 are free and parking is free. Due to prior year incidences, there will be no dogs permitted at the festival this year with of course guide or service animal exceptions.
