We have all seen images of Nazi propaganda by Leni Riefenstahl and others, but this fascinating documentary narrated by Udo Kier throws a much wider net, examining the thousands of popular German films made in the 1930s ostensibly for entertainment purposes, yet which refracted a fascist ideology in ways that are sometimes horrifyingly grotesque, at others disturbingly pernicious.
