The Stage tells a story of what happened to a theatre troupe for one day, turning the stage 180 degrees and opened the backstage to the front. The mystical backstage becomes open to the audience, and what is usually on the stage is turned into "behind the scene".

In The Stage, actors take on roles of actors. Narrations mix with Peking
Opera, a treasure of modern Chinese traditional culture. The dialogues are at times playful, humourous and plainly honest. Watching the production is much like "seeing life as a stage in the stage, a drama within drama".

Created and directed by one of the best Chinese comedians, Chen Peisi, and featuring Yang Lixin, a national top-grade actor of Beijing People's Art Theater Company.
