Join the parade from Oppenheimer Park (488 Powell Street) to Gallery Gachet (9 West Hastings Street) at 5 pm.

From September 7th through October 28th, 2018, Oppenheimer Park and Gallery Gachet are pleased to present what these trees have seen, an exhibition showcasing artwork from the Oppenheimer Park community. Included are paintings, drawings, print, sculpture, carvings and mixed media works. Artists will be present at the opening reception, Friday September 7th, 2018. Gallery hours are Tuesday to Saturday from 12pm-6pm.

Oppenheimer Park is the site of Legacy Sakura trees planted in 1977 by a group of over 70 first generation seniors as part of a project coordinated by the Tonari Gumi (Japanese Community Volunteers Association). This year’s exhibition considers the wisdom and beauty of these historic trees and will delve into the themes of nature, time and place generated through community meetings and a vote in June 2018. Thirty-five artists’ diverse interpretations will be featured in the show.
