Returning to rural Nova Scotia for a funeral, Belle (Sofia Banzhaf) relapses into old dynamics with her mother Nancy (Shelley Thompson). Nancy has just accepted Belle’s coming out, revealed years ago when Belle was a teen, so Belle isn’t eager to disclose that she’s now dating the man (Callum Dunphy) who’s unexpectedly arrived on the tense scene to offer moral support. Thom Fitzgerald’s tragicomedy explores the amorphous nature of grief through honest observations, biting humour and hard-won catharsis.
