PatternNation Imagination Exploration is a 6 week visual and wearable art course for youth ages 8-15 meeting every Wednesday from Oct 10th to Nov 17th 4-7pm (excluding Halloween). This project is made possible by the support of ArtStarts in Schools and will take place at the arts starts building at 808 Richards. In the course the youth will paint their own pattern mural panels, create a wearable art upcycled fashion look and complete a professional photoshoot wearing their outfit in front of their own mural panel. The course will finish in an art show on November 17th at the ArtStarts gallery space where the youth participating in the course will walk the runway in their creations and show case their photo shoot and mural panel. PatternNation Imagination Exploration will be facilitated by PatternNation founder Cydney Eva and local emerging artist guest instructors: Kevin Fraser (dancer/runway coach), Brotha Jason (fashion designer/dancer), Katy Slany (visual artist) and Maggie MacPherson (photographer). We hope to bring the youth of Vancity an exciting and unique program that will teach some new fun and colourful skills skills as well as allow every young person involved to explore their own self expression!
