Sixty years ago, the Second Narrows Bridge collapsed while under construction. Peter Hall, who was both a draftsman with the Dominion Bridge Company and an amateur filmmaker and photographer, had been tasked with documenting the bridge’s construction. The immediate aftermath of the devastating collapse – in which nineteen men lost their lives – was caught on Hall’s camera, but the footage was never viewed until documentarian George Orr met with Hall last year.

Speaking with survivors, journalists, and historians, and illustrating their anecdotes with Hall’s astounding images, George Orr has preserved this important chapter of local history in his new film "The Bridge". Already screened at multiple venues to sold-out audiences, "The Bridge" will be shown on the North Shore for the first time at The Polygon Gallery. The filmmaker will be in attendance for a Q&A and reception after the screening.
