-ACCESSIBILITY NOTES-

The Roundhouse Community Centre is located in the Yaletown district of Vancouver, just steps from a variety of transit options: the Yaletown-Roundhouse Canada Line station, bike and walking paths along the Sea Wall, and the 6 & C23 bus routes. There is also a pay parkade underneath the Roundhouse, which is accessible off Drake. Parking is $3.50/hr on weekends.

Dancing in the Street takes place on the Turntable Plaza just outside the Community Centre. The Turntable has a wooden dance floor, and is accessible from the street by wheelchair, powerchair, and stroller. There is a large sail shade on the "needle" of the Turntable, which provides partial shade over the dance floor, and built-in concrete bench seating around the dance floor for listeners and onlookers.

Public water fountains with taps for filling water bottles are available inside the Community Centre, along with vending machines to purchase bottled water if you forget your reuseable bottle.

Accessible single stall washrooms are also available inside the Roundhouse.

-SAFETY-

Swing dancing is an awesome physical activity that anyone can learn to do! We want everyone who attends Dancing in the Street to have a fun, welcoming, and safe experience. To ensure this, the Vancouver Swing Society has a Code of Conduct in place at all its events. Please review it on our website: http://www.vanswingsociety.ca/code-of-conduct We will also have it posted at the event and available at our information table.

Dancing outdoors in nice weather is also a real treat, but comes with its own set of safety suggestions to prevent unfun things like heatstroke, sunburn, and dehydration! We highly recommend that dancers and listeners alike:

* Apply and reapply sunscreen generously--we will have some at the info table!
* Wear hats and/or sunglasses
* Bring lots of water to drink and a snack--you can refill bottles in the Roundhouse, and we heard an ice cream truck will be nearby...
* Take breaks in the shade
* Come find an organizer at the Info Table if you aren't feeling well
