The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) is proud to be partnering with the Mysterious Barricades Concert Society and the Canadian Association of Suicide Prevention (CASP) in supporting the second annual Mysterious Barricades' cross-country concert series on World Suicide Prevention Day, September 10, 2017.
This event will feature 15 free concerts from St. John's, Newfoundland to Victoria, British Columbia, featuring some of Canada’s finest artists and performers coming together to raise awareness of suicide, suicide prevention and to support those at risk of and impacted by suicide.
Performances will feature a variety of musical styles – including classical vocal and instrumental, spoken word, jazz, choral and Indigenous.
From sunrise to sunset, the series of concerts will take place in cities from coast to coast for 21 continuous hours. Twelve of the concerts will be live-streamed while the concerts in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Halifax, Nova Scotia and Victoria, British Columbia, will be pre-recorded and air in sequence on September 10.
The Vancouver concert will take place at 8pm on September 10 at the Roy Barnett Recital Hall at UBC. The lead organizer is Prof. Patrick Raftery and artists and performers will include Spencer Britten; Nancy Herminston; Ingrid Chiang; Leslie Dala; Rebecca Hass; Terrence Dawson; Julia Nolan and Beth Orson.
For those not able to attend in person, all concerts will be live streamed throughout the day, beginning at 8:00 a.m. PDT on http://www.mysteriousbarricades.org
