Chigiri-e is a Japanese art form using pieces of hand-dyed washi paper to create beautiful and detailed images.

The result can resemble a watercolour painting with a delicate texture. Leanne will provide a step-by-step introduction to the technique, and guide you through completing an image of pansies. Supplies included. Class limited to 10 students.

About the instructor:
Leanne Hildebrand majored in Music Performance and graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto in 1996. She is passionate about art and handmade paper. She has collected handmade paper from different countries.

Leanne has 8 years of experience making handmade books. Which were sold at the Suho Memorial Paper Museum in Taipei. She started learning to use Japanese hand-dyed paper (washi) to make pictures about 14 years ago in an Japanese art form called Chigiri-e studying under several masters in Taiwan.
