Trading a Gun for a Guitar:
Innocence Lost Foundation is hosting a large benefit concert and silent auction to raise funds and awareness for former child soldiers. Our third annual “Trading a Gun for a Guitar” event will be held at the St. James Community Square in Vancouver on November 17th, at 6:30pm.
We are fundraising for our first project: a community centre to be built in Kabala, Sierra Leone, West Africa. One of our founders, Fazineh Keita, was a child soldier during that country’s civil war, and knows well the after-effects and healing that need to happen. Our goal is to provide this community with a medical clinic, a clean water well, food, education, skills training and art and sport therapy programs to give opportunities and break the cycles of violence and poverty from being passed down generationally.
