The Pear Tree Restaurant serves up locally sourced Continental and gourmet cuisine in an elegant atmosphere in the heart of Burnaby.
This sophisticated eatery is open for dinner from Tuesday through Saturday. Owners Stephanie and Scott Jaeger (who is also the chef) have developed a menu that concentrates on dishes that are organic and seasonal, as well as being made from ingredients that are sustainably harvested.
Appetizers include orange-caramelized scallops with double-smoked bacon risotto and a flamed gin tomato soup with chive whipped cream. The entrée menu features a pan-seared Miracle Springs rainbow trout (served with chive-potato froth and toasted organic hazelnuts) and a roasted Nicola Valley marbled ribeye (served with Stilton polenta, onion confit, wilted spinach, and cinzano shallot jus).
For those with a sweet tooth, the Pear Tree offers a fresh lemon tart caramelized with crack sugar and a crème brûlée with a crisp brandy snap.
