A guide to the Lower Mainland’s flower festivals

      Spring is in bloom, which is definitely evident by the number of flower festivals that are—ahem—sprouting as of late.

      If you’re overwhelmed by the bevy of flower options in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, here’s where to start.

      Abbotsford Tulip Festival 2024


      The Abbotsford Tulip Festival kicks off the season with a stunning 35 acres of tulips in more than 100 varieties, among other assorted field flowers.

      When: Tentatively opening April 15, continuing until May 12

      Where: Lakeland Flowers (3663 Marion Road, Abbotsford)

      Botanica Tulip Festival 2024


      Botanica Tulip Festival promises 1.5 million blooms complemented by a picturesque u-pick field, plus a ferris wheel offering panoramic views. Floral workshops and food truck fare are also on offer here.

      When: April 12 until mid-May, open from 5 am to dusk

      Where: 41310 Yale Road, Chilliwack.

      Harrison Tulip Festival 2024


      The Harrison Tulip Festival celebrates its inaugural year under its new name (it was formerly the Chilliwack Tulip Festival). Now located in Agassiz at the Onos Farm, the festival shows off 10 million tulips, plus hyacinths and double daffodils on this 109-acre spot.

      When: Opens April 8

      Abbotsford Summer Flower Festival 2024


      Following the Abbotsford Summer Flower Festival, Lakeland Flowers keeps the party going with other glorious blooms—including peonies, lupins, Siberian wallflowers, lavender, and sunflowers.

      Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival 2024


      Cherry blossom season in Vancouver gives a nod to Japan’s sakura trees, celebrating the blooms with a bevy of cultural events from haiku readings and guided walks to a giant picnic. Join in the communal celebration of spring's arrival in Vancouver.

      Lavendarland 2024


      Seven acres of lavender fields give off the calming aroma and medicinal benefits of the plant, among plenty of photo opportunities.

      Richmond Sunflower Festival 2024


      Twenty acres of sunflowers, dahlias, gladiolas, and wildflowers will be in bloom at Richmond Country Farms.

      Acres of sunflowers are rooted alongside a corn maze and barnyard adventureland.
