It's been a miserable day for many people wanting to travel on B.C. Ferries between the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island.

The trouble began last night with a police incident on a vessel travelling from Duke Point to Tsawwassen.

One man was acting in an "erratic" manner and "causing concerns for crew and passengers", according to Nanaimo RCMP.

It was initially believed that another man went missing, so the vessel turned around and returned to Duke Point.

"Officers later reviewed CCTV camera footage and it appears that the missing man may have walked off the ferry when it returned to Nanaimo, and then departed in a waiting taxi. Investigators are following up on this information," the Mounties stated.

      B.C. Ferries cited this incident in cancelling today's 3:15 p.m., 5:45 p.m., 8:15 p.m., and 10:45 p.m. sailings on that route.
