B.C. Highway Patrol is seeking any witnesses of a hit-and-run in North Vancouver that involved damage to two vehicles, including a police car.

Around 9:20 p.m. on August 30, a Fraser Coast Integrated Road Safety Unit (FC IRSU) officer had stopped with a vehicle that had been heading east on Highway 1 near the Mountain Highway off-ramp in North Vancouver.

As the officer was completing some paperwork, a vehicle passed by and sideswiped the police car, which resulted in damage to both vehicles. The officer remained unharmed.

Although the driver of the passing vehicle hit the brakes (as indicated by the brake lights) immediately after the impact, the vehicle then continued on. The vehicle was last seen heading for the Second Narrows Bridge.

The suspect vehicle is a 2016 or newer white Honda HRV, and sustained some damage: the passenger side mirror was damaged, and the housing was recovered from the scene.

Unfortunately, the license plate wasn’t obtained.

Anyone with information, including any dashcam footage, is asked to contact FC IRSU at 604-539-2729 or, to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
