Glass shattered on Gastown steam clock

One of Vancouver's most famous landmarks was behind police tape on the weekend.

The Gastown steam clock at the corner of Cambie and Water streets was cordoned off after some of its glass was shattered.

      Police have launched an investigation.

The Gastown steam clock was designed and built by Raymond Saunders. Even though it looks like a relic from the 19th century, it was completed in 1977.

The steam is released from a vent that's part of Creative Energy's district heating system running beneath the ground.
