Those seeking COVID-19 testing on the North Shore should take note of some changes to testing sites that are taking place this week.

An existing testing site in the parking lot of Centennial Theatre (2300 Lonsdale Avenue) in North Vancouver, which had opened on August 22, will close down at 7 p.m. on Wednesday (October 7).

Vancouver Coastal Health announced today (October 6) that, in partnership with ICBC, a new testing centre will open on Thursday (October 8) at the Capilano Claim Centre (255 Lloyd Avenue) in North Vancouver.

This new site, which will take both walk-in and drive-through clients, will be indoors and will be open every day from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

About 450 to 600 tests are anticipated to be conducted at this site each day.

Testing is not recommended for those without symptoms and individuals can use the online B.C. COVID-19 self-assessment tool to determine if you require further assessment by a healthcare provider or at a local collection centre.

On October 1, B.C. provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said that there were 10,900 tests conducted on September 30, which was a record number for one day.
