Vancouver is considered one of the top dog-friendly cities in North America.

That’s why it shouldn’t be suprising to see a lot of businesses catering to Fido.

Let’s add Diamond Dogs Daycare to the list.

The company has filed an application with the City of Vancouver to open a doggy daycare in Kitsilano.

The proposed location is at 1884 West Broadway.

“The Business is a dog daycare with grooming and dog walking services and a small retail area,” the company explains in a letter to city hall.

The daycare will accept a maximum of 35 dogs per day.

In the letter, Diamond Dogs Daycare explains that “each dog may weigh up to a maximum of 35lbs (16kg)”.

“Grooming and dog walking services are available only to dogs currently in the care of the daycare (i.e. there will not be any grooming or dog walking appointments in addition to the dogs in the daycare at any given time),” the company notes.

The retail area will sell pet accessories, like dog coats, leashes and collars.

The location at 1884 West Broadway is a ground-floor address at a three-storey building west of Burrard Street.

The building has a restaurant also on street level, and residential units on the upper levels.

City hall will receive comments from the public about the development permit application until February 28.

Diamond Dogs Daycare has its website running already.

Online, the company notes that it’s difficult for someone to leave their pet in someone else’s care.

“We work hard to make your dog feel at home,” Diamond Dogs Daycare promises.

“We do this by providing your dog with a wide variety of amenities. Including a toy chest, ball pit, comfy furniture and a quiet space room,” the company says.
