A search is on for a hiker who has disappeared.

North Vancouver RCMP stated in a news release issued today (June 29) that a friend of 74-year-old Howard Moore, who had reported him missing today to the Vancouver Police Department, last saw him on June 25.

As Moore was believed to have gone hiking in North Vancouver near Grouse Mountain, North Vancouver RCMP searched for and located Moore’s vehicle in a parking lot at Grouse Mountain with a note in the window that stated "Gone to Skyline Trail, 27 June".

Moore is described as a white male with light brown hair and a medium build. What clothes he was wearing remains unknown.

North Shore Rescue is conducting a search, including the use of a helicopter.

"We are very concerned for his wellbeing, particularly due to the incredibly hot weather these past few days," North Vancouver RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Peter DeVries stated in a news release.

Anyone who may have seen Moore or knows of his whereabouts is asked to contact police at 911.
