Two collisions in Metro Vancouver: Richmond pedestrian sustains significant injuries, Burnaby pedestrian dies

      Two separate cases of vehicles striking pedestrians have taken place in recent weeks in Metro Vancouver.

      One in Richmond entailed a pedestrian being hospitalized with serious injuries while a previous collision in Burnaby last month has now resulted in a fatality.

      Richmond

      Around 11:36 p.m. on August 5, a pedestrian was crossing the intersection of Granville Avenue and No. 3 Road in Richmond when a white Dodge pickup truck struck her, according to a Richmond RCMP news release issued today (August 10).

      She was taken to hospital with significant injuries but is now in stable condition.  

      The driver is now under investigation for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

      Burnaby

      Burnaby RCMP stated that shortly after 5 p.m. on July 18, officers discovered a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian at the intersection of Grange Street and Barker Avenue in Burnaby.

      The collision, which involved a vehicle travelling westbound on Grange Street, resulted in a 77-year-old man being transported to hospital with serious and life-altering injuries.

      The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

      Today (August 10), Burnaby RCMP announced that the pedestrian has died.
