Sure, Vancouver is all about the flurries of snowflakes right now—but cherry blossom season is just around the corner (phew). Otherwise known as the city’s most photographable season (seriously—our collective Instagram feeds are set to be full of streets lined with pink blossoms come spring), the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival will take place from March 29 to April 25.

This year’s festival includes a few big, new events, including Blossoms After Dark—an evening experience under illuminated cherry blossoms—as well as The Big Picnic: an outdoor picnic at Yaletown’s David Lam Park that will include a silent disco.

Paying homage to the origins of the cherry blossoms that line Vancouver’s residential streets is Sakura Days Japan Fair, April 13 and 14, which celebrates Japanese arts and culture among the cherry blossom trees at VanDusen Botanical Garden.

“We have been busy planning our events with even more avenues to bring community members together with meaningful, interactive, and fun activities and performances,” says Andrea Arnot, executive director of the festival, in a release.

In the coming weeks, the festival will be updating its Instagram page with news about its other returning activities, including Tree Talks and Walks, Bike the Blossoms, and the Haiku Exhibition.
