The Gastown Business Improvement Society is presenting a family-oriented outdoor event next Thursday (August 25) that will feature games, a digital light show, and a performance by the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra.

Meet Me at Gastown will kick off at 5 pm with a variety of games--including giant jenga, building blocks, and beanbag toss--followed by the VMO performance at 7 pm, and an immersive light show at 8:45.

Also performing on the Gastown streets will be the Rocky Riobo Duo, Lenny and Pete, and Leela Music.

Patrons are encouraged to order takeout from their favourite Gastown restaurant and enjoy from the seating area at the Carrall Street Laneway (1 Alexander Street) or Carrall St. Plaza (200-block Carrall St).

“It’s been a challenging few years," says GBIS executive director Walley Wargolet in a news release, "so it's been amazing to bring our local communities together to celebrate summer with friends and family and provide a safe, fun space to enjoy the artistic and cultural talents of Vancouver.

Gastown Business Improvement Society executive director Wally Wargolet.

“We want locals, along with the visitors from near and far, to experience the historical yet new spirit of the Gastown community and the neighbourhood we cherish so much,” he adds.
