Vancouver Public Library is hosting a panel discussion to celebrate the release of local author Stephen Hui's new guidebook, Destination Hikes In and Around Southwestern British Columbia.

The event, titled New Trails: The Changing Nature of Hiking in British Columbia, will explore how the rising popularity of hiking is changing the culture and environments where people hike.

Hui will discuss the topic with fellow panelists Tori Ball, a conservationist for the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, and Judith Kasiama, founder of Colour the Trails, a community group that focuses on getting Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour out in nature.

The conversation will be moderated by Andrea Ross, senior digital producer at CBC British Columbia and avid hiker.

The free ZOOM event takes place May 25 at noon Pacific time and you can register here.
