Video: King Charles III delivers his first speech as the monarch

      King Charles III says that he shares the sense of loss "beyond measure" with those feeling grief over the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

      He made the comment in his first public address since replacing her as the British monarch.

      "Queen Elizabeth was a life well lived—a promise with destiny kept—and she is mourned most deeply in her passing," King Charles III said. "That promise of lifelong service I renew to you all today."

      He also held his first audience as king with a British prime minister.

      Liz Truss, who became prime minister on September 6, visited King Charles III at Buckingham Palace.
