Unfortunately, it looks like Miranda may have sung her swan song on Netflix.

The streaming service is dropping its original comedy TV series Haters Back Off after two seasons that aired in 2016 and 2017. On December 1, Netflix confirmed it would not renew the series for a third season.

The series revolved around the family life of an off-kilter character named Miranda Sings that series star Colleen Ballinger first launched on YouTube in 2008. Miranda Sings is a lipstick-indulgent, socially awkward wannabe star who, despite having minimal talent inversely proportionate to her over-confidence, is on a relentless quest for fame.

The cast included Angela Kinsey, Steve Little, Erik Stocklin, Francesca Reale, and Matt Besser.

It was one of the first scripted series that Netflix picked up from a YouTube star. Unfortunately after two seasons with eight episodes each, the fan following that Miranda Sings garnered on YouTube did not crossover to the series format.

      Haters Back Off

The cancellation of the show means that the B.C. film industry has lost a series as well. Haters Back Off was shot in various locations around Metro Vancouver, including Port Coquitlam.

In the meantime, Ballinger will continue to appear as Miranda Sings in live shows on tour in various U.S. cities.
