Vancouver has given birth to the top-grossing R-rated movie of all time.

And a Vancouver resident launched the world's most renowned expletive-laden charity devoted to preventing cancer.

So it only makes sense that they would come together as part of a fundraiser that's generating attention across North America.

This week, Vancouver-raised actor Ryan Reynolds, a.k.a. Deadpool, announced that he's going to auction off a pink suit worn by the foul-mouthed superhero. 

It's come in advance of the release of Deadpool 2, which was filmed in Vancouver.

Proceeds will go to Fuck Cancer, which was formed in 2015 in a merger between Fuck Cancer and another group called F*ck Cancer.

Fuck Cancer was initally launched in 2009 by Vancouver resident Yael Cohen Braun. 

She did this at the age of 22 after her mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009.

“Early detection saved my mother’s life," Cohen Braun told the Straight's Gail Johnson.
