Some of the biggest names in Indian cinema have sent out Baisakhi or Baisakhi greetings.

Hindus celebrate Baisakhi as an annual spring harvest festival, whereas Sikhs in Canada use the term Vaisakhi, connecting it to the founding of the Khalsa, which was a military order created by Guru Gobind Singh in 1699.

The message that's drawing the most attention in India came from Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar.

To promote his upcoming film Kesari, the Punjabi actor wore a saffron turban and a full beard in a newly released photo.

The war drama focuses on the Battle of Saragarhi in which a tiny group of Sikhs in the British Indian Army fought off tens of thousands of Afghans in 1897.

Others who extended well wishes today included actors Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit, and Sunny Deol.

Not to be outdone, Canada's celebrity prime minister, Justin Trudeau, also wanted his fans to know how much he appreciates the Sikh community in Canada.

To prove it, the PM included some Punjabi in his Vaisakhi video below.
