Alec Baldwin insists that he's being defamed by a story making the rounds in the media today.

"Normally, I would not comment on something as egregiously misstated as today's story," the actor declared over Twitter.

"However, the assertion that I punched anyone over a parking spot is false," Baldwin continued.

"I wanted to go on the record stating as such."

Many outlets distributed a photo of the 60-year-old leaving the New York Police Department's 6th Precinct station.

According to People, a 49-year-old man was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital.

People also reported an NYPD spokesperson "confirmed" that Baldwin had been charged with assault and harassment.

Baldwin, however, insists that the story is false.

"I realize that it has become a sport to tag people w as many negative charges and defaming allegations as possible for the purposes of clickbait entertainment," he stated over Twitter. "Fortunately, no matter how reverberating the echos, it doesn't make the statements true."
