(Community announcement by Reel to Real Film Festival for Youth)

R2R is a week-long celebration of diverse, imaginative, fun, and inspiring films for children and youth ages 6-19 and their families. Programs include live-action, animated and documentary films from around the world with hands-on workshops, a Youth Media Conference, and a showcase of films made by youth. The focus of this year’s Youth Media Conference will be "Inside the Industry" and the how-to’s of breaking into and working in the film industry: networking with professionals; where various career opportunities lie; and how to take advantage of them. During this interactive presentation, students will be able to learn what it really takes to pursue a future in the film industry.

The opening night film is Mia and the White Lion (France, South Africa, Germany). This incredible project was developed and filmed in real time over five years as the cast and animals aged and formed real bonds with each other. The closing night animated film is Pachamama: The Sacred Treasure (Canada, Luxembourg). Academy and César Award-nominated Didier Brunner (The Secret of Kells and Ernest & Celestine delivers yet another culturally authentic voice in Juan Antin’s richly textured Andean fable.

Sure to delight, move, and amaze audiences of all ages, R2R includes family friendly films and hands-on workshops. Don't miss Sunday Fun Day! at the Roundhouse. Come early for an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, and spend the day watching films, making animation, and exploring virtual worlds.
