While the news that Canada’s Simu Liu would headline the first Marvel superhero film with an Asian male lead was celebrated in July, another Asian Canadian actor is joining the ranks of superpowered characters on screen—and this time he’s from these here parts.

Vancouver actor Osric Chau has starred on locally filmed TV series Supernatural and Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, as well as Blood and Water (which Liu also starred on).

As actor Brandon Routh is leaving his role as Ray Palmer, a.k.a. The Atom, on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow during Season 5, Chau has been reported to be taking over in the Arrowverse as physics professor Ryan Choi who becomes the new Atom.

Chau is set to appear in the five-part crossover event Crisis on Infinite Earths, which involves TV series Arrow, Batwoman, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash, and Supergirl, that will be broadcast in December and January.
