VIFF 2014: We Both Go Down Together goes surreal

    1 of 1 2 of 1

We Both Go Down Together (Canada)

Doppelgangers and various down-and-outers dominate this program of surrealistic dramas. Martin Edralin’s “Hole” is a troubling but compassionate look at a severely disabled man’s dormant sexuality, while Lucas Hrubizna’s “Hard Card” is a Tim Burtonesque journey into the world of bingo and illegal medicine. The most memorable is also the shortest; in “Life’s a Bitch” filmmaker François Jaros compresses a young Montrealer’s journey of love, loss, love, and more loss into a hilariously edited six minutes.

      International Village, September 29 (8:30 p.m.); Vancity, October 7 (4:30 p.m.)
