VIFF 2015: Home Care has life-affirming spirit

Home Care (Czech Republic/Slovak Republic)
The maxim that you can’t care for others if you don’t care for yourself first gets a bittersweet spin in this smalltown comedy-drama.
When a devoted home-care nurse discovers she’s the one in need of help, her world view and relationships undergo a paradigm shift (with feminist leanings) as she seeks out new perspectives on health, life, and love.
Well performed and executed, the film, with its life-affirming spirit, is one that arthouse films which confuse humourless depression for depth could learn from.
