VIFF 2015: The Summer of Sangailé has strange allure

    1 of 2 2 of 2

      The Summer of Sangailé (Lithuania)

This heady art film hinges on the strange allure of its melancholic title character. “Fucked-up” only begins to describe the sullen teen, who cuts herself and drifts off in dreamily shot psychosis while she lazes around her disinterested parents’ country house. Only the eccentric photographer-seamstress Auste can find Sangailé and free her—her and the stunt planes curlicuing through the sky. As sensual as it is lushly shot.
